Some older sneakers released by Nike in the 90s were so ahead of their time with their design and function that when they were released they held a strong buzz amongst sneaker heads, blacktop basketball players, as well as a slew of N.B.A. players. The Nike Air Max Uptempo was definitely one of those sneakers, originally released in 1997, the Total Max Uptempo was worn by players like Tim Duncan, Reggie Miller, and Vince Carter. The Total Max Uptempo is sneaker that is sleek enough for a guard but tough enough to bang in the paint with the big men. Built with a black tumbled leather upper featuring a red patent leather Swoosh on both the lateral and medial sides, black nubuck overlays, and black patent leather trim to balance flare with function. The Total Max Uptempo also offers great breathability with mesh layers on the black padded tongue and around the padded ankle collar. The back of the sneaker features a rear pull-tab for quick easy access at the top and an oval mirror-reflective insert on the heel of the midsole that reads AIR. The midsole is black above the Full-Length red Max-Air unit that sits above a red translucent and black outsole. The outsole has herringbone tread with a window under the heel showing inside the Full-Length Air Max unit.
